Concentrating on diet, cardiovascular exercises and light weight lifting will help you if your main goal is to “get in shape” or “be more healthy”. But getting big, ripped muscles requires a different plan and the following tips will help you reach that goal.
These tips will work with any muscle building program and you can find more about building muscles here
1. To increase muscle complete high quality sets with heavy weights. Using heavier weights works your muscles more, so you should rest more between sets - one to three minutes.
2. To warm up the muscles you will be using during your training session, you should perform the same exercises with lower weight and do fewer reps. Only 5 - 6 repetitions are needed. If you complete more than this, you will boost lactic acid or possibly get too fatigued. Muscle preparation does not mean stretch - stretching does not prevent injury. If there is a muscle you plan to work on and it is very tight, you can stretch to loosen that muscle - but stretches are otherwise not required.
3. Don’t overanalyze each move you make. Go to the gym, perform the exercises as best you can and get stronger. When you are done go home and don’t worry about that session any more - there is no need to stress out over what may have gone wrong at the gym. You cannot perform at your best if you are stressed.
4. Work both sides of each joint equally during the week. That is to say if you complete two sets of biceps exercises, also perform two sets of triceps exercises that week. Every set of joint muscles you work should be trained this way.
5. Most importantly, decide that your goal is to build massive muscle - then do whatever it takes to meet that goal. If you don’t have time during the day for a workout, then wake up extra early every day to fit the workout into the day. It takes a lot of hard work, but only two to three hours a week, to change your body - resolve that you will get it done and then do it.
